The nurses are involved in health promotion and the monitoring of chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes, COPD, heart disease, high blood pressure and strokes. They also organize Influenza vaccinations, paediatric immunizations, cholesterol monitoring and dietary advice, travel vaccinations and also give smoking cessation support. Nurse Steenson carries out Cervical Smears by appointment. Treatment Room -Treatment Room Nurse - Aisling Rafferty The treatment room is open by appointment Monday to Friday 9am – 1pm and 2pm -5.30pm The nurses offer a wide range of services including doing blood tests, giving vaccinations and other injections, removing sutures, performing ECGs, blood pressure checks, dressing wounds, giving health advice, treating minor injuries as well as assisting the doctors with minor surgical procedures. Please note when you bring a sample of urine to the surgery during treatment room hours, you may wait for the nurse to carry out preliminary tests or alternatively, the sample can be placed in the ‘sample box’ outside the treatment room door. Please ensure that name, address and date of birth are clearly written on the specimen bottle. Treatment room cannot be visited without an appointment except in an emergency. |
